This deck was inspired by the " On The Cheap" article series at the Strange Assembly site. These articles (and this deck in particular) are what inspired me to begin our crusade to proliferate this format, and I am grateful to them for the part they have played. Here is my current Bushi League Crab Scout deck. The primary goals of the deck in battle are to reduce the opponent's Province Strength (or boost your own on defense) and eliminate opposition via Ranged Attacks. I welcome any suggestions, recommendations, constructive criticism and insight. Kyuden Hida XP Bamboo Harvesters/Border Keep Dynasty (40): Hida's Guidance XP Times of Strife Hida Kisada Hiruma Akio XP 2 Hida Osote 3 Hiruma Nitani 3 Hiruma Tensin 3 Kaiu Esumi 3 Nijugun 2 Shikaro 3 Toritaka Shishido 3 Yoritomo Tansen 3 Small Farm 3 Iron Mine 3 Archery Range 2 Remote Village 3 Prosperous Village Fate (40): Ring of Earth Ring of Water 3 Genji's Students 3 Hiruma Snipers 3 Advance Warning 3 Ancient Feud 3 Burn the Towers 3 Disrupting Communications 3 The Duty of the Crab 3 Know No Fear 3 No Hiding Place 3 Sniping 3 The Snow Has Teeth 2 Spirit of the Scout 3 Surrounded!

I didn't see a real need for him in this type of deck. Sure, he's powerful - and anyone who chose to include him wouldn't be making a bad decision - but in a Personality-heavy deck like this I couldn't see anything I'd like to omit in his favor. No one in the deck costs more than 8 (and that's just Nijugun) so it should be able to crank out multiple Scouts each turn.

Yeahhhhh, I'd still run him.

I would as well. This deck is already potentially losing Hiruma Chokeslam - dunno if you ran him, but splashing a big zerker in Scouts was fun - so there's room for some beef.

Good points (and yes, I did run Nikaru in there as well). I suppose I'll have to make room for him. I'm not sure what to cut though. All of the personalities advance the theme, I like having 2 Osote's because I want to see him early (and he's a prime target), and cutting any gold to put in an expensive peep doesn't sound wise, either. Suggestions?

Or a Shishido. Boxable and vanilla, though the trait is ok.
This is probably the most composed and intact Bushi option for Crab. Lack of Colonial Harbor hurts a bit. I may try 'zerkers to do something different, though I do wonder how this box would fare with a 'best of' crew instead of mainly Scouts. Fate synergy would suffer a touch, but it could be manageable.

Considering that the main goals of the deck are ranged attacks and lowering province strength, the guy's an ideal Scout choice for it. Short help's better than no help, eh Chewie?

Hey I'm all for it - they are cousin clans, after all. It's all part of my Yoritomo master plan of mass assimilation and world domination.

He's actually secretly a Hiruma in a funny hat. Yeah, that's it.

Made a couple changes to the Personality base. I still want to put in Ambush Tactics but I'm really not sure what to pull.
